Rumor: Electronic Arts signs a key exclusivity deal for the next Xbox
Details of this agreement aren't clear at the current juncture, and neither source was entirely certain; one suggested that the property in question might be Battlefield 4, while another posited that Respawn Entertainment, the studio formed from the ashes of Infinity Ward, might be entering the fray with its first title.
An official announcement is expected at the rumored Xbox 720 reveal in April. Either way, it's highly unlikely that EA would tie itself completely to either manufacturer. A specific game or games being exclusive, or perhaps timed-exclusivity seems plausible.
Some concern had been raised over the fact that EA was curiously absent from the PlayStation 4 reveal event. Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference, CFO Blake Jorgensen attempted to put these concerns to rest.
"It was more about timing of our own slate as well as trying to maintain a good balance of power with all the parties out there and choosing when to unveil certain pieces of software I'd say, between now and E3, you are going to see a lot of stuff, and we are going to chose with our marketing teams when to announce."
