Maxis brings Cheetah Speed back to SimCity; Mac version coming in June
You may recall about a month ago, when the troubles that plagued SimCity’s infamous launch were first becoming known, that Maxis disabled a few “non-critical” features from the game to improve the stability of its servers. Recently, the developer revealed that one of those features, Cheetah Speed (essentially SimCity’s fastest gameplay setting), is now back in the game.
“Yes, it's true, we've recently brought back Cheetah Speed,” Maxis said on the game's Facebook page. Along with that, the developer revealed that it is working on an update for SimCity, “Update 2.0”, but had no more details to provide at the time.
In other SimCity news, Maxis announced that the game will be released for Macs on June 11. Soon to be available exclusively through Origin (pre-orders start today), the Mac version of SimCity will allow players to download the PC version for free, while PC owners will be able to access the Mac version for the same price. What’s more, cross-platform play between the two versions will be supported.
