Smartphones beat out OUYA in benchmark tests

According to FutureMark, Ouya's upcoming console isn't exactly packing much heat under the hood. In a recent benchmark test, the device ranked 73rd in terms of performance, trailing behind a number of well-known Android phones such as the HTC One and the LG Nexus 4, as well as tablets such as the Sony Xperia Tablet Z.

Smartphones beat out OUYA in benchmark tests

FutureMark wasn't the only group to test the Ouya's capacity and find it wanting, either. Crystalline Green lead developer James Cootes ran a 3DMark Benchmark on the device (see the YouTube video below). From all this, one thing is clear: the Tegra 3 T33 has fallen well behind other Android devices on the market where technical capability is concerned.

This news, coupled with the console's controller issues, makes one wonder if OUYA is really ready for launch, or if it might be a better idea for the manufacturer to wait a few months before pushing their console out to market.
