Original Fable to be re-released in HD as Fable Anniversary
In honor of the release of the original Fable –one of the first titles to offer players the freedom to make choices that had permanent consequences– nine years ago this September, Microsoft and Lionhead will be sending out invitations to Albion once more with Fable Anniversary, a glorious HD remastering of the Xbox First title (I say “Xbox First” because “Xbox 1” might have been too confusing).
The game was originally teased earlier today in the form of this very-telling trailer, which featured the main antagonist of Fable 1, the Jack of Blades. It wasn’t long at all after that that the remaster’s existence was made official on Major Nelson’s Blog in an interview with lead designer Tim Timmins.
As the words “HD remaster” suggest, Fable Anniversary will boast enhanced visuals, as well as features like near-instant loading times, a reworked interface, achievements, support for Xbox SmartGlass, and a leaderboard for one of the series’ most iconic pastimes… chicken-kicking. Additionally, the game will include Fable 1’s “The Lost Chapters” expansion pack on-disc.
“We’re really excited to bring Fable to Xbox 360,” said Timmins. “It’s the game that the Fable community has been asking for, so we wanted to make sure Fable Anniversary delivered the definitive Fable experience for both long-time fans and newcomers to the franchise.”
Fable Anniversary is set to release this holiday season for the Xbox 360.
