Skylanders SWAP Force confirmed for PS4, Xbox One; coming in October
Because the ever-growling library of next-gen titles could use some more kid-friendly games, Activision has announced that it will be bringing the next installment of its kid-bait Skylanders franchise, Skylanders SWAP Force, to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this fall, along with the PS3, X360, Wii U, Wii, and 3DS.
Continuing the trend started with last year’s Giants, SWAP Force will introduce brand new Skylanders figurines with a gimmick. Of the 32 new characters that the game will introduce, 16 will come with detachable top and bottom halves, allowing players to mix and match them into 250+ unique combinations.
In addition, SWAP Force will include new flying, climbing, and teleporting abilities that can be accessed in certain sections of Skylands. Topping things off, the game will be compatible with all of the Skylanders figurines from the last two games, meaning parents will not have to dole out extra cash to let their kids play as Spyro once more.
Speaking of money, the game’s Starter Pack will set buyers back about $74.99, individual figurines will cost $9.99, and the new swappable figures will be priced at $14.99. Pre-ordering Swap Force, whether it’s just the game or the Starter Pack, will land buyers with a free figurine.
Skylanders SWAP Force will be arriving in North America on October 13, followed by an October 16 release in Australia and an October 18 launch in Europe.
