Just Add Water wants to remake original Metal Gear Solid for Hideo Kojima
Yesterday, Hideo Kojima made the collective head of the Gamersphere spin when he expressed a desire to see the original Metal Gear Solid remade using his studio’s Fox Engine, should a third-party developer come along with a desire to make it.
Such a developer has come along, and it’s a not a bad candidate. It is British studio Just Add Water, whose portfolio includes the HD remaster of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath and the upcoming remake of Oddworld’s debut installment, titled Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty.
In a letter to Kojima posted on its site, the team at J.A.W listed the reasons they would be the right studio for the job, pointing out their “experience working with legendary IP (Oddworld Inhabitants) and treating the subject matter with the respect it deserves”, as well as the fact that many of the staff are “huge Metal Gear fans, with very good knowledge of the source material.”
Also, they “really, really want to do it.”
So readers, think Just Add Water would do justice to late 90s’ Snake with the Fox Engine, or would Kojima be wise to brush off their offer? Feel free to let us know.
