Starcraft Universe MMO hits Kickstarter
As you may or may not have heard, there's a Starcraft 2 MMO on the way. It's not in development by Blizzard, however. Starcraft Universe, as it's called, is being created by a small team of modders known only as Upheaval Arts. Blizzard, although not affiliated with the project in any way, has given the team its blessing.
With that in mind, Upheaval has taken to Kickstarter in an attempt to raise $80,000 in funds to help it finish the first act of the game and get it into public beta. This funding, they explain on the page, will be used to gain the resources necessary to polish the mod and get it to the players "faster, better, and sexier."
The mod, which has been in development for two years, takes place a little over a decade after Wings of Liberty's campaign. It depicts a dark, terrifying world in which Kerrigan dies and the remaining survivors of the war are forced into a (presumably losing) battle against the hybrids. It's slated to be released through Battle.net in February 2014.
