A number of reports from across the Internet have cropped up claiming that Microsoft has, very quietly, been developing the second generation of Zune HD portable media players.
The rumor mills began to turn two days ago when both WMPoweruser and ZDNet independently published news pieces bringing the information to light. The positing seems to be backed by a Microsoft job listing for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to develop the device.

- The original was sleek, but a redesigned Zune HD should make Microsoft more competitive -
That being said, nothing in the job posting points directly to a second-gen Zune HD (in fact, they are supposedly looking for someone to build a new Windows Phone). However, a few comments in the talent pitch at least indirectly point to the development of Zune HD2.
"We [Entertainment & Devices Division] are the team that shipped the Zune HD, and created all the hardware on that device. We are currently building the next generation of portable entertainment and communication devices, and we need you."
