According to a post traslated by IGN contributor Anoop Gantayat, Square Enix has announced a brand-new Dragon Quest Heroes title for Nintendo 3DS. The game is intended as a sequel to the Nintendo DS adventure, Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime, which garnered ample praise from game reviewers.

Moving the setting from land to sea, rumor has it the slimes will man the helm of ships this time around, rather than battle tanks. The game will also be fully polygonal, as opposed to the hand-drawn, 2D art of past entries, and Square Enix has added 3D visuals and online features to the game as well.

Getting its start on Gameboy Advance as Slime MoriMori Dragon Quest: Shogeki no Shippo Dan, this latest installment will mark the third game in the Dragon Quest Heroes series. According to the game’s official website, the adventure is due out in Japan sometime this year. No mention yet as to whether or not the title will see publication in western territories.
