Bungie Software
Description:
Bungie is an American video game developer currently based in Washington State.
Bungie began as a company in May of 1991, but that wasn't exactly the beginning. Before it emerged, fully formed as the multinational corporate behemoth that published Operation: Desert Storm (on which they later based a war) and developed Halo, Bungie released a Pong clone (nearly 20 years after the original) called Gnop!
In 2000, Microsoft acquired Bungie. Halo went on to become the Xbox's "killer app", selling millions of copies and spawning a billion dollar franchise.
On October 5, 2007, Bungie announced that it had split with Microsoft and become a privately held independent company, Bungie LLC. The studio continues producing products for Xbox 360 but is free to develop for other companies and their platforms. The company is currently based in Kirkland, Washington.
