Founded in 1996 by Sid Meier and Jeff Briggs (formerly of Microprose), Firaxis Games is known for their fan-favorite strategy titles such as Alpha Centauri and Pirates! However, it is the legendary Civilization franchise that has defined the company.
Firaxis was acquired in November of 2005 by Take-Two Interactive and now publishes its titles under 2K Games.
