"Puzzles from Another World"
When I started playing Alien Hive on my iPhone, I was confused instantly. It looked like the beloved and well-known Bejeweled. Therefore, I tried moving pieces around and flopping them with one another to match them up. However, with Alien Hive, there is always an empty spot leaving only a minimal amount of moves to be taken. Even if you see pieces that match up, it's not always easy to get them together. But, I had to do it! So I kept playing. And kept playing. Yes, this game is highly addicting... if you put in the time to learn about it. It's not one of those games you can mindlessly pull out to kill time, as there is strategy involved. I liked that. The confusion quickly vanished and I found myself being challenged by the game. Appxplore brings us yet another fun and addicting puzzle game that is unique to any other.
To level up in Alien Hive, you have to earn gold and buy power-ups. Players will have to drag rows and columns up and down and left and right to make matches. Don't forget to watch your energy level! Every move you make costs one Energy. To refill your energy, match the Plants or the Crystals. When you match three (or more) of the same object, it will evolve them into a higher level object. The objective of the game? Evolve the Alien eggs to the Supreme Aliens and create the greatest hive. You can even share (or brag about) your hive on Facebook!
Keep your eye out for... Naughty Bots. These alien-like-bot creatures will freeze an object around them every single turn, which limits (or prevents) your next move. To get rid of these bad guys, you'll have to utilize the power-up "Bot Blaster," which will instantly destroy all of them. Try to get the Bots together to earn gold!
Whenever you're in a rut... turn to the plentiful assortment of "Power Items". One of my favorites is the "Converter", which converts all Alien eggs into Crystals. Having a ton of one item in the game allows for maximum combos. Another useful power-up is the "Magic Fruit", which you can use to instantly evolve any paired object. There's more, but I'll let you discover them for yourself.
You will have a Globe at the bottom-center of your screen. Once this fills up, you can use a Power-Up called the "Wormhole". When this is activated, drag a an entire line of objects across the board horizontally or vertically to match them up and do some combos. Doing combos is one way to get the highest points possible in Alien Hive, along with matching up higher level Aliens or matching up four or more objects. There are a lot of out-of-this-world-looking aliens waiting to evolve! You just have to discover them.
Alien Hive is a keeper for me. I always enjoy a unique puzzle game, and this one adds the elements of strategy with plenty of challenges. I also like that there is no time limit, which can be frustrating and stressful. This is a very relaxing and mellow game. Even if you're not hooked right away, keep playing! Unlock creatures and evolve your Aliens and control the ultimate hive.
